Catching Fire is divided into three parts: Katniss and Peeta’s mandatory Victory Tour from the districts, preparations for that 75th Annual Hunger Games, along with a truncated version from the Games themselves. Slower paced than its predecessor, this sequel explores the world of Panem: its power structure, rumors of your secret district, along with a spreading rebellion, ignited by Katniss and Peeta’s subversive victory. Katniss also deepens being a character. Though initially bewildered with the attention paid to her, she comes almost to embrace her status because the rebels’ symbolic leader. Though more of the story happens outside of the arena than within, this sequel has enough action to impress Hunger Games fans and leaves enough questions tantalizingly unanswered for readers to be desperate for the next installment.

But they disagreed over whether Catching Fire was as well as the first book Hunger Games or should be viewed as somewhat of an "sophomore slump." Several critics who remained unconvinced by Katniss's romantic dilemma made unfavorable comparisons on the human-vampire-werewolf love triangle in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. But most reviewers felt that Catching Fire had been a thrill because Collins replicated her initial success at balancing action, violence, and heroism inside a method in which will enthrall young readers without giving them (too many) nightmares.

If there really are merely seven original plots in the world, it's odd that boy meets girl is definitely mentioned, and society goes bad and attacks the nice guy never is. Yet we have Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, The Home from the Scorpion—and now, following a good tradition of Brave New Worlds, The Hunger Games. Collins hasn't tied her future with a specific date, or weighted it down with too much finger wagging. Rather less 1984 and rather more Death Race 2000, hers is a gripping story set in a very postapocalyptic world where a replacement for that Usa demands a tribute from each of their territories: two children to be used as gladiators in the televised fight on the death.Katniss, from that which was once Appalachia, offers to adopt the place of her sister inside Hunger Games, but after this ultimate sacrifice, jane is entirely centered on survival at any cost. It is her teammate, Peeta, who recognizes the significance of holding onto one's humanity in such inhuman circumstances. It's a credit to Collins's skill at characterization that Katniss, like a whole new Theseus, is cold, calculating and still likable. She has the attributes being a winner, where Peeta has got the grace to become an excellent loser.It's no accident these games are presented as pop culture. Every generation projects its fear: runaway science, communism, overpopulation, nuclear wars and, now, reality TV. Their State of Panem—which needs to keep its tributaries subdued and its particular citizens complacent—may have created the Games, but mindless television will be the real danger, the means where society pacifies its citizens and punishes those who neglect to conform. Will its connection to reality TV, ubiquitous today, date the book? It might, but for now, celebrate this the proper book with the right time. What happens if we choose entertainment over humanity? In Collins's world, we'll be obsessive about grooming, we'll talk funny, and many types of our sentences can finish with the same rise as questions. When Katniss is shipped to stylists to be made more telegenic before she competes, she stands naked before them, strangely unembarrassed. They're so unlike people that I'm you can forget self-conscious than if a trio of oddly colored birds were pecking around my feet, she thinks. Meyer has achieved a significant feat start by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins having a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this is going to be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella comes towards the small town of Forks for the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to get with her father. At school, she wonders with relation to its a band of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together inside cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and after that love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, that has inspired the crooks to renounce human prey. For Edward's sake they welcome Bella, but every time a roving number of tracker vampires fixates on her, the household is drawn into a desperate pursuit to safeguard the fragile human within their midst. 10 Second Interview: A Couple Of Words with Stephenie Meyer

Q: Were a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Angel? What are you watching now that people shows are off the air?
A: We have never witnessed a whole episode of Buffy or Angel. While I was writing Twilight, I let my older sister read along chapter by chapter. She's an enormous Buffy fan and he or she kept looking to get me to watch, however was afraid it would screw up my vision with the vampire world so I never did.
I don't possess a ton of your time for TV, and my kids get rowdy when I have on "mommy shows," but I really do have a very secret fondness for reality shows (the good ones, at the very least inside my opinion). I TiVo Survivor, The Amazing Race, and America's Next Top Model.

Q: What inspired one to write Twilight? Is this first of your series? Why write for teens?
A: Twilight was inspired by a very vivid dream, that is fairly faithfully transcribed as chapter thirteen of the book. You can find sequels around the way--I'm hard at work editing book two (tentatively titled New Moon) right now, and book three is waiting in line for its turn.
I didn't mean to publish for teens--I didn't mean to publish for anyone but myself, so I had viewers of just one twenty-nine years old (and later one thirty-one years old when my sister started reading). I do think the reason i finished up with the sunday paper for teens is really because secondary school is a real compelling time period--it offers you some of the worst scars and a few of one's most exhilarating memories. It's a fascinating place: old enough to feel truly adult, who are old enough to create decisions that affect the remainder of one's life, of sufficient age to fall in love, yet, with the same time too young (in most cases) to be free to create a lots of those decisions without somebody else's approval. There's a lot of scope for any novel in that.

Q: What is your favorite vampire story? Fave vampire movie?
A: I guess my personal favorite vampire story will be The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice, since it's one in the only ones That i've ever read. I keep meaning to get Bram Stoker's Dracula, because I get asked this question so frequently and I should probably start while using classics, on the other hand haven't gotten around to it yet. Again, I'm afraid to learn other vampire books now, for concern with finding things either too similar, or too distinctive from my very own vampire world.

Ack! I cannot even answer the movie question. I am unable to remember ever seeing a single vampire movie, beyond clips from Bela Lugosi movies on TV. I would not like true horror movies--my favorite scary movies are Hitchcock's.

Q: What other young adult authors do you read?
A: My favorite young adult author is L.M. Montgomery Furthermore, i enjoy J.K. Rowling (but who doesn't?), and Ann Brashares. As a teen, I skipped straight away to adult books (lots of sci-fi and Jane Austen), so I'm rediscovering the planet of teen literature now.

Q: What book has had the most significant impact on your own life?
A: The book with all the most significant impact on my small life is It of Mormon. The book with the most significant impact in my life as a writer is most likely Speaker to the Dead, by Orson Scott Card, with Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier coming in like a close second.

Q: You are stranded on a desert island with only 1 book, one CD, and something DVD--what are they?
A: The CD is easy: Absolution by Muse, hands down. It's harder to give myself just one movie, nevertheless the one I watch most frequently is Sense and Sensibility--the one with all the screenplay by Emma Thompson. One book is impossible. I'd have to have Pride and Prejudice, on the other hand couldn't live without something by Orson Scott Card as well as a nice, thick Maeve Binchy, too.

Q: What is the worst lie you have ever told?
A: My lies are all very, very boring: "No, you truly look great in hot pink!" "My children only watch one hour of TV a day." "I didn't eat the past Swiss Cake Roll--it must are already one of the kids." That's the best I've got.
